Facebook announced some updates to the Facebook Mentions iOS app.
“Today’s updates make it easier for people to broadcast in landscape / portrait mode and save the video after going live,” a spokesperson for Facebook tells us in an email. “People can now also filter posts within their Mentions feed by source, as well as by topic, and reply to private messages sent to their Page or Profile from within the Mentions app.”
With the Live improvements, videos will still appear in a square aspect ratio regardless of which way you hold the phone, but this makes it easier to not have to worry about which way you’re holding the phone.
With the feed update, if you only want to see posts from media outlets, for example, you can select “Media Sources” from the dropdown.
To reply to messages, go to the notifications tab and tap on the messaging icon.
Mentions is only for verified Facebook users of course. Last week, Facebook finally launched an Android app for it.
The iOS pap has been available for going on two years, but now many more will be able to utilize it as Android commands a much bigger share of the market, though I don’t know what the break-down is among verified users.
